For that reason, he refers to the USA as the 'afflicted nation'. He imagines a citizen of Britain travelling to the USA, and being grateful, at that time, to belong somewhere else.
We belong to heaven. This is an immeasurable comfort. Yet let us be aware that we need to be different from the people of this world!
