Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost is an arcade game and updated version of Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Full Boost, released on March 6, 2014. Much like Full Boost, the game will introduce both new suits and characters as well as new game mechanics such as a revamped EX Mode and changes to forms for certain units. The theme song is Rave-up Tonight by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. It is later followed up by a portable spinoff, Extreme Vs. Force and an update in Maxi Boost ON.

[ GAMEPLAY ]
One of the new gameplay additions is the EX Overdrive, replacing the Assault and Blast Bursts altogether while acting as a sort of second EX Mode. This mechanic comes in two types; S-Drive and F-Drive, the former which drastically increases weapon reloading and firing speeds and the latter which renders melee attacks unblockable.

The gameplay remains identical to its predecessor, but it once again revamps the EX Mode system, merging it with the Overdrive. It also adds a third EX Mode option called Extend along side the original Shooting and Fighting modes. While it offers no stat bonuses, it allows the user to escape combos without the gauge needing to be full. The ON in the title represents the newly added online functionality which allows players to play together or against each other.

Alongside the arcade mode, called Branch Battle, the Playstation 4 version also includes Free Battle along with local multiplayer splitscreen play. Returning from the Extreme Vs. series is a mission mode called Maxi Boost Mission where players can take on various battles with unique stipulations and challenges. Unlike the previous games' mission modes, mobile suits are not leveled up individually. Instead the player does. Leveling up increases Upgrade Slots, which allows for an increased number of bonuses and these are automatically assigned to any currently selected unit. Missions are grouped into Areas, each more progressively difficult. At the end of each Area is a powerful Boss. By completing Break Missions, the boss can be weakened to make the challenge easier.
