As I discuss in this video, if you are pursuing #SSDI or SSI benefits based on one of these conditions, make sure to differentiate your condition from the much more common osteoarthritic condition. When treating, advise your doctor of all symptoms as your words will become part of your medical record.

Also, whenever possible you should seek treatment from a specialist such as a rheumatologist, as opposed to a family doctor. Not only will you have more and better treatment options but your medical record will resonate better with a disability judge.

I also advise my clients to make on-going notes about the side effects of their medications. After a while your fatigue, mental confusion and loss of physical dexterity may become part of your day to day existence, but for a Social Security judge, these limitations on your activities of daily living are very relevant to the question of whether you can perform basic work activities.

Finally, do not hesitate to make notes to take with you to your hearing. While SSD hearings are low key as far as court proceedings are concerned you are likely to be nervous and you do not want to forget important points such as the timeline for the progression of your disease and specifics about your physical limitations. #socialsecuritydisability #windisabilitybenefits
