UNKNOWN GUNMEN: Police kill Five, Parade One Over Attempted Attack On Imo Police Command Headquarters
On Sunday, a joint security operation made up of the Police, Military, and Department of State Security has shot dead five gunmen during a gun battle in Owerri.
Parading the dead bodies of the suspects at the police headquarters in Owerri, the Police Public Relations Officer in charge of the Command Bala Elkana said the hoodlums met their waterloo during a failed attempt to attack the Imo state government house and police headquarters.
The suspect, Stanley Osinachi, who hails from Mbieri in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state, confessed to the crime.
Imo State governor Hope Uzodimma in a Sunday service as at victory Chapel government house Owerri commended the security agencies for the exploit and reassured Imo residents of their safety.
The governor, however, promised to do everything possible to ensure there is peace and tranquillity in the state.
