The villagers of Sotokoi in kombo East on Saturday 13th April 2024, paid a visit to the Chief of the District (Bakary Sanyang) on the alledged encroachment by Social Security and some individuals of Faraba Banta on their lands in Sotokoi.

According to the VDC and youths of Sotokoi, a letter was sent to the chief on the issue in which they wanted to make a follow up on their lands for farming as the rainy season approaches and that they don't want any violence said one Faraba Gagigo.

The Chief Bakary Sanyang who does not look happy and comfortable with this reporter on the ground asked him not to write or record anything that he said.

The youths said, they are only giving a duration of one month to Social Security to vacate their lands as the rainy season approaches.
"We will go to social security after one month to meet with the director of the institution" a youth leader Ebrima Manneh said.

The unhappy youths and elders of Sotokoi believed their lands were encroached in a way to compensate those whose lands were used for the building of the University in Faraba.

This came after the Chief stopped the alkalo of Pirang to talk about something about the UTG which they believe will reveal the truth behind the case.
They called on the Seyfo to allow the Alkalo of Pirang to complete his statement but that fall on a deaf ear of the Chief as he claimed that was not part of what brought them to his compound.

Of recent, kombo has been hit with land dispute and the latest has been Manduar, which if not tackled properly by the authorities may lead to violence.
