Also known as Dennin Aleste in Japan, this game was made by Compile and published by Tengen, and was released for the Sega CD in 1992 for Japan, and 1993 for North America. It is a top down shooter, and spiritual successor of sorts to M.U.S.H.A, aka Musha Aleste also by Compile, with its medieval Japanese theme being even stronger. It is worth noting that this is the last in the Aleste series.
This track in particular, the theme for level 1, has a more Japanese sound to it, with a shamisen playing throughout, and noh cries at the end of the song. I haven't yet gotten a chance to play this, but when I do, I'll update with some impressions about the song in relation to the stage.
