Every year, Senator Bob Wieckowski recognizes local Heroes from the 10th Senate District at his annual “State of the District” Address. This year Senator Wieckowski Recognizes Castro Valley Local Heroes Journalist Robert Souza and Mental Health Advocate Elaine Peng September 26, 2018. Congratulations!
Senator Bob Wieckowski: "I am proud to be recognizing Robert Souza at the 2018 State of the District September 26th, 2018. As a longtime journalist, Robert has covered over 10 years of #Castro Valley Municipal Advisory Council meetings, ALCO Planning Commission Meetings, Rowell Ranch Rodeo and Parades, Fall Festivals, CV Car Shows, Chili Cook Off events and a number of local Veteran organization celebrations & holiday observations. He also led a successful initiative to declare February 10 "Cliff Burton Day", in memory of the former Metallica bassist and Castro Valley native who passed away, in Castro Valley and Alameda County."

As a NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) volunteer since 2013 and the founder of MHACC (Mental Health Association for Chinese Communities), Elaine Peng has vowed to do all she can to help the much neglected and underserved Chinese-American community."
