In this video we take Hugo, our three year old standardbred percheron cross gelding and saddle him and ride him for the first time. We go through all roundpenning and the first ride straight through to dismount so you can see the preparation we took to get Hugo ready to ride.
This is also my first time saddle breaking a horse after being a horseman for several years and watching plenty of youtube myself : )
In addition to what you see in todays video, we had also spent the last several months working on ground manners, ground driving, trying on tack, and round penning, so while todays video may seem like 20 minutes of work to a beautiful result, its really the culmination of hours and months of work.
