First of all, there’s no “correct” way! But there are some preferred methods to the mango madness and the technique shown in this video is amongst one of the most common and simple ways.

Start by identifying the top of the mango (where the stem would be). Once you find that, you’ll see how the mango has 2 sides aka “cheeks” and in between is where the seed lives. We want to cut alongside the seed NOT into the seed. Also it’s less messy to cut with the grain (from top to bottom). Start cutting along those sides/cheeks all the way to the bottom. Once you have the cheeks, make slits into the flesh with your knife just until you reach the skin. Keep doing so until you’ve created a checkered shape. Then flip the mango cheek inside out and you have perfect bite sized squares!

You can eat the fruit directly off of the skin or you can scoop it out to store for later, eat with a smoothie bowl, or have a mango snack 😋
