Topkapi Palace is a palace complex in the center of Istanbul, which has been an official residence of the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire for over 380 years. The private sultan's residence was surrounded by various administrative and service buildings that stretched the whole area of the complex to the banks of the Bosphorus. In the palace complex there are many gardens, fountains and courtyards. Women from sultan's family like princesses, concubines and sultan's mother lived in a harem in a private part of the palace complex. Only the eunuchs, who were in charge of the main eunuch, were accessible to this section.
Hagia Irene Church is the second largest church in Istanbul after Hagia Sophia and the oldest church of the Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantine). It has never been changed to a mosque.
