Not everyone has the luxury of nearby family they can lean on. Maybe your loved ones live far away. Maybe they’re close but unable or unwilling to help. Or perhaps you come from a small family, and you’re the only one available to step in. Whatever your situation, you don’t have to do this alone.
🎬 In this video, I'll share Four Ways You Can Find Free Support to help you and the patient through this challenging time.
As I mentioned in the video, below is a more comprehensive list of local, community-based groups where you or a trusted friend can often find volunteers to help with everyday needs like meals, errands, pet care, or transportation.

How to Use This Guide:
Pick 2–3 options that feel accessible and local.
Share this guide with a friend who says, “Let me know how I can help.” Ask them to reach out on your behalf.
Make it specific. Give clear, simple tasks when people ask.
Pair this with the “Small Acts, Big Impact” list that is in the next lesson.
Want to Clarify Expectations with a Volunteer or Helper?
When someone offers to help in a more hands-on way (such as driving to appointments, staying with the patient, or managing errands), it can be helpful to outline what that looks like. The sample agreement below is not a legal document, but a simple guide to support communication and set shared expectations. Use it to start a respectful, thoughtful conversation about how they can support you or your person with confidence and clarity.
You can personalize it to fit your needs and use it as a tool to avoid misunderstandings and reduce stress. I've also given you a list of websites that offer legal documents.
