Описание: Can Nguni cattle become the new gold in Gauteng? A handful of emerging black farmers in Gauteng are leading the way in Nguni cattle breeding. The project, which sees emerging farmers loaned 30 pregnant heifers and a bull to return them after 5 years, has seen farmers breed Nguni cattle that are drought resistant and cheaper to manage, compared to other cattle breeds. With government support, the Nguni Cattle project aims to unlock economic potential, alleviate poverty and create employment? However farmers face challenges of fragmented markets, price controls, and poor infrastructure which hamper production.
