He lived in Akkalkot for approximately 22 years, until his samadhi in 1878.
Rather than establishing monasteries or writing scriptures, Swami Samartha chose to live among ordinary people—often in cremation grounds, temples, streets, or under trees—deliberately rejecting social norms to shatter ego, attachment, and hypocrisy.
