Описание: Recording of the 2024 Canadian Parliamentary National Championships Grand Final. Hosted by Hart House Debating Club and held in University College, University of Toronto, on 24 March 2024.

INFO SLIDE: Sprezzatura is the Italian concept of studied carelessness, especially as character quality or style of art and literature. When applied to art, it manifests as things like destroying all preparatory work (i.e. rough drafts, sketch’s, etc.) to make it seem like the final creation of the art was effortless. It is a norm about the process of creating art rather than the outcome of art.
During the Renaissance art period (14th-16th century Italy), sprezzatura was the dominant force in artist behaviour. They practiced it for the sake of appearing as though their hands were guided by God, that their ground-breaking creations were divinely inspired and that their works were the products of God’s favour. This has resulted in very few surviving pieces of preparation for works for the art that was created in this period, whether dominant or otherwise.
