Steamer Bay With Whales Breaching & Fin Slapping - Etolin Island, AK

Описание: Aug. 4, 2023 - A spacious FS A- frame with room for 6+ guests is on the E shore of the bay's entrance. Vaulted windows provide beautiful views of Clarence and Stikine Straits. ADA accessible at high tide by small craft via a boardwalk ramp. A mooring ball is provided or a bouy across the bay. Whales breached and salmon jumped all day (7:05). We anchored in the head of Steamer Bay 1 mile S and W of the charted pilings in 90' at 0 tide; 4:1. Held well in 15 kt S-SE winds. Took depth soundings in the outlet of Porcupine Creek; 70' at 0 tide, 200' N of the charted rock. It shoals quickly and dries at 0 tide (charts are incorrect). More info:
