How to Beat GROAL THE GREAT | Hollow Knight Silksong Boss Fight Explained

It’s time to break down one of the most frustrating bosses in Silksong — Groal the Great. Between the brutal run-back, multiple waves of enemies before the fight, and his ability to summon minions mid-battle, this is easily one of the toughest encounters in Pharloom. In this guide, I’ll show you my full setup, explain each of Groal’s attacks, and share the safest strategies to survive both him and his arena.

For setup, I went with Thread Storm for strong area control, Volt Filament to boost skill damage, Wreath of Purity to freely move in water, and Pollip Pouch for steady poison damage. Pimpillo is the perfect answer to his Great Inhale, while Voltvessels deal huge bursts of damage against both Groal and his minions.

Groal’s moveset includes Acid Spit that tracks your position, the Great Inhale where you can choke him with Pimpillo, ambush summons with arena traps, and at 60% health he gains the Vengeful Spirit attack. The safest way to fight him is from the arena’s edge, throwing tools whenever you can, baiting his attacks carefully, and punishing during short openings. With patience and precision, even this nightmare boss can be defeated.
