Most copper deposits once they get down below the oxidized minerals on the surface the minerals will turn to sulfides. There is a trick to getting copper out of those sulfides, and it took mankind a while to figure that out. Our modern mining produces mostly sulfide ores. Early day miners encountered this problem, and eventually the Romans figured out how to take the copper out of the sulfides. It takes higher temperatures and hot oxygen from the air. In this video I try to repeat the process and extract copper from copper sulfide minerals.
