This project requires a measuring tape, power drill with a quarter inch hex head driver, a Phillip's screwdriver, pencil, and rubbing alchohol. First you will need to determine where to place the mounting brackets, battery, and solar panel. You will need a minimum depth of three inches to mount these skylight shades for all of the elements to fit properly. Now you need to install the mounting brackets, and to do this, you'll have to place them three inches from the side of the opening. When the brackets are properly in place you can drill them in with the provided screws. Now its time to install the battery wand, and to start you need to mount the battery wand clips. When doing this, keep in mind that the battery wires must be able to reach the motor plug and the solar panel plug. When you've completed mounting the battery wand, it's time to move on to installing the solar panel. There are two different ways you can achieve solar panel installation - with brackets, or with an adhesive tape. You may use whichever you are most comfortable with, as they are both effective. Using the already installed brackets will allow the solar panel to swivel which will let you get the most amount of sunlight. To use the tape method, you will need to remove these brackets and clean the ends of the solar panel with rubbing alchocol. When the panel is dry, remove one side of the double-sided tape provided, and adhere to the solar panel end caps. Now you need to install the headrail, and connect the battery wand and solar panel to the motor. The last step to this project is to simply install the bottom rail, and install the tracks. Now that you're finished, you can sit back and relax, knowing these motorized skylight shades are easy to operate, and are energy efficient!
