Mobile phone video of Boeing 737 NG LE Devices panel made from scratch. In the background you can just see the flap indicator of the default FSX 737-800 for comparison. The panel is connected with Open Cockpits IO Cards and programmed using their SIOC scripting langauge. FSX (or FS9) by default only provides parameters for all the outboard LE slats grouped together and inboard LE flaps together.
In order to give a more realistic simulation of how this panel looks in a real 737, we used a random timer for each separate light. We also modified the flap timings in the FS 737 model as the default ones are way too fast. It's still not perfect - too linear - but it's better. The LE devices do not seem to be well supported in any FS program we have looked at, which is strange as it is such an important panel.
You can see the test function demonstrated, followed by a selection of FLAP 1. This lights all inboard and outboard TRANSIT indicators until the outboard EXT and inboard FULL EXT illuminate. Nothing changes until the flaps move beyond FLAP 5, and then the outboard TRANSIT lights come on until the outboard slats reach FULL EXT, at which point the outboard EXT goes out as the FULL EXT comes on. The whole sequence is reversed on retraction. It is possible to generate random LE flap failures using SIOC.
The panel has a 40-way connector on the back, so it would be possible to drive it using other interface systems. We managed to find the right material for the 'windows', which are black when dark but allow light through. The diffusion works well, and there is virtually no spill between adjacent lights. You will notice that the lights are the correct 'diamond' shape; it looks 100% as per the real thing. Everything laser cut and engraved. Not easy!
