After speaking with Jamie about his energy consumption habits, his goals and his budget, we decided to go with a 6.6 kilowatt solar PV system. This was the perfect size for the amount of energy his home uses.

Choosing a system that is too small can result in suboptimal savings from your system. This can lengthen the amount of time it takes for your system to pay for itself (known as the ‘payback period’) and ultimately this will detract from the ROI of the system. However, choosing a system that is too big can pose similar problems. An oversized system will mean a larger upfront investment and a much longer payback period.
