Shooting both photography and video as a solo creator at live events is no small feat — especially when you’re working in a fast-paced environment where things are constantly moving. In this video, I take you behind the scenes at @ukreiif 2025, a major property sector conference in Leeds, where I was tasked with capturing a mix of stills and video b-roll for my client over three busy days of networking and panel events.
As my primary role here was event photography, I had to develop a workflow that let me stay agile and responsive — while still producing smooth, high-quality video content on the side. In this BTS video, I walk through my setup, gear choices, and shooting approach, including:
• My two-camera setup
• How I capture dynamic, stabilised b-roll at 60fps without interrupting my stills workflow
• Tips for switching quickly between formats without missing key moments
• Shooting wide group portraits and candid networking shots
• Editing and delivery strategies for tight turnaround content
This is very much a real-world look at how I juggle stills and video work as a solo shooter — no assistants, no crew, just thoughtful planning and gear that works with me, not against me.
Whether you’re an event photographer looking to expand into video or a hybrid shooter trying to refine your workflow, I hope you find this useful.
