Jammu–Srinagar National Highway Closed Due to Fresh Snowfall

The strategic Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) was closed to traffic in both directions on Friday following fresh snowfall in and around the Navyug Tunnel area, officials said. An official told that vehicular movement from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa has been suspended as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of commuters. Snow accumulation and slippery road conditions prompted the decision to halt traffic. The official further said that other important arterial routes, including the Mughal Road, SSG Road, and Sinthan Road, have also been closed due to fresh snowfall. Authorities have advised people to avoid travel on these routes until they are cleared and declared safe for vehicular movement.
