India-U.S. Defense Partnership Expansion

Описание: India and the United States are taking significant steps to strengthen their defence partnership.

At the recent India-U.S. 2+2 Intersessional Dialogue, senior officials from both countries met virtually to discuss expanding their collaboration for the next decade.

The Ministry of External Affairs shared that both sides are working towards a new ten-year Framework for the India-U.S. Major Defence Partnership.

This agreement aims to deepen cooperation in defence, with a focus on advancing industrial, scientific, and technological ties.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Additional Secretary Nagaraj Naidu Kakanur and Joint Secretary Vishwesh Negi from India, along with Bethany P. Morrison and Jedidiah P. Royal from the United States.

Participants agreed to build on progress made through the COMPACT, which stands for Catalyzing Opportunities for Military Partnership, Accelerated Commerce and Technology.

They discussed enhancing operational coordination, regional cooperation, and information-sharing.

Both countries also reaffirmed their commitment to a safer and more prosperous Indo-Pacific region, working together through the QUAD, a strategic forum involving India, the United States, Japan, and Australia.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing appreciation for the productive discussions and a shared eagerness to further strengthen the bilateral relationship for the benefit of both nations.
