Delicious Syrian dessert with milk pudding served in sweet milk and topped with ice cream / Kjempegod syrisk dessert med melkepudding servert i søt melk og iskrem.
RECIPE
4 servings
Milk pudding / milk custard
500 ml / 2 cups milk
4 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
Serving
250 ml / 1 cup cold milk
1,5 tbsp sugar
8 – 10 slices of vanilla ice cream
Pistachio, sliced
1. Have the the milk in a small sauce pan
2. Take 50 ml of the milk and mix together with the cornstarch in a small bowl
3. Add sugar and vanilla sugar to the milk
4. Cook the milk on medium-low heat until it starts to boil
5. Add in the cornstarch mixture while stirring constantly
6. Let the milk cook until it becomes thick as a creamy yoghurt
7. Take off heat and our it into a deep dish (custard should cover 1-2 cm of dish)
8. Let cool at room temperature until firm to touch
9. Pour ice water onto the custard using your hand until it covers 1 cm above the custard
10. Let cool in the fridge for 2-3 hours or until ready to serve
Serving
11. Cut the custard into cubes (in the water)
12. Mix the sugar into the cold milk
13. Take a serving bowl, add 4 – 5 custard cubes (each cube cut into 4)
14. Add milk until it halfway or just covers the custard cubes (however much you prefer)
15. Place 2 – 3 thick slices of vanilla ice cream
16. Garnish with sliced pistachio
Enjoy immediately!

SYRISK MELKEPUDDING DESSERT
4 porsjoner
Melkepudding
500 dl melk
4 ss maisstivelse (maizena)
2 ss sukker
1 ts vaniljesukker
Servering
2,5 dl kald melk
1,5 ss sukker
8 - 10 skiver vaniljeis
Pistasj, skivet
1. Ha melken i en liten kjele
2. Ta 50 ml av melken og bland sammen med maisstivelsen i en liten bolle
3. Tilsett sukker og vaniljesukker i melken
4. Kok melken over middels lav varme til den begynner å koke
5. Tilsett maisstivelseblandingen under konstant røring
6. La melken koke til den blir tykk som en kremet yoghurt
7. Ta av varmen og hell den over i en dyp tallerken (puddingen skal dekke 1-2 cm)
8. La avkjøles ved romtemperatur til den er fast
9. Hell isvann over puddingen med hånden til den dekker 1 cm over puddingen
10. La avkjøle i kjøleskap i 2-3 timer eller til den skal serveres
Servering
11. Skjær melkepuddingen i biter (i vannet)
12. Bland sukkeret i den kalde melken
13. Ta en serveringsskål, tilsett 4 - 5 biter av puddingen (hver bit kuttet i 4)
14. Tilsett melken til den halvveis, eller knapt dekker puddingbitene (hva enn du foretrekker)
15. Legg på 2 - 3 tykke skiver vaniljeis
16. Pynt med skivet pistasj
