🧠 What is Digital Arrest Scam
🎥 “What is a Digital Arrest Scam?”
"Digital Arrest Scam is a new method used by cybercriminals where they impersonate police officers, CBI, or even customs officials over video calls.
They’ll accuse you of illegal courier packages, money laundering, or drug smuggling — and then threaten arrest unless you pay a 'fine' or 'settlement' immediately."

🎭 Real Case Example
"A Mumbai techie recently got such a call. The scammer claimed a parcel in her name contained illegal documents. She was told an FIR was registered and she must cooperate — all this on a WhatsApp video call with a fake police badge in the background.
Scared and confused, she paid ₹1.8 lakhs to ‘settle’ it. By the time she realized the truth, it was too late. 😞"
🕵️ Modus Operandi
"Here’s how they work:
-Get your name and number from leaked databases
-Call you posing as a law enforcement officer
-Accuse you of a fake crime
-Move the conversation to video call
-Show fake documents or fake IDs
-Demand immediate payment to avoid ‘arrest’
-Sometimes, they even have fake courtroom setups online!"
✅How to Stay Safe
🎥 “How to Stay Safe?”
✔️ Always stay calm – scammers use fear to confuse you
✔️ Verify caller ID – government officials don’t use WhatsApp for legal summons
✔️ Never send money based on a call or video threat
✔️ Report such calls on www.cybercrime.gov.in or dial 1930
✔️ Tell your friends and family – they might be the next target
"The next time someone tries to ‘digitally arrest’ you, don’t panic. It’s not the law — it’s a scam.
Stay aware. Stay alert. Share this video — you might just save someone’s money… or their life!"
