We tend to hold it in very high esteem, in the sense that whenever we encounter someone who has a British accent we assume they are smart, educated, interesting, and exotic. At the same time I have to admit that most Americans are absolutely horrible at imitating a British accent, which is exactly why I am very excited to react and learn about how to learn a British accent fast, from my American perspective of course.
