Wide legged forward bend is also called as the Prasarita Padottanasana which means Feet Spread Intense Stretch Pose.
This pose stretches and strengthens the calves, hips, lower back, and spine. The various arm positions involved in this, stretch your shoulders, forearms and upper back. It also provides relief from stress, neck and shoulder pain.
Avoid this pose if you are suffering from severe back pain.
