In June 1942, English Flight Sergeant Denis Copping was forced to make an emergency landing in Egypt's western desert while transporting one of the Royal Air Force's Kittyhawk P-40 aircrafts. The recent discovery of the plane is a momentous event, especially since the desert's dry and serene conditions have left the plane almost intact and amazingly preserved.
We as Egyptians must band together to make sure that the plane is protected from damage and theft until it is transported safely and professionally to a museum. Already, there have been reports of parts of the plane being stolen. It is crucial that we protect the crash site and ensure that it stays in Egypt.
