Kumily is a small border town between Kerala and Tamil Nadu; a climb of 880 metres into the Cardamom Hills near Thekkady.

This bustling town is a gateway to the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary; it is also famous for its spice and tea plantations.

After the heat and humidity of the Bay of Bengal, climbing to the temperate climate of Kumily is a refreshing change.
