Some important information as you prepare for your quiz on Law of Cosines and the Area of a Triangle.
In this video, I discuss:
When the Law of Cosines is appropriate (no matching pair)
If SSS is given, start with the largest side first
Recognize that sometimes SSS leads to no triangles when the sum of the lengths of the smaller two sides does not exceed the length of third side
If SAS is given, once you find the first angle, you find the third side first, then use Law of Sines using the smaller remaining side (or Law of Cosines again with either side)
Area of a triangle formula [SSS] A=1/2 ab sinC (placeholders)
Area of a triangle formula [SAS] A=√(s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)), where s=(a+b+c)/2
