The Yugoslavian M48 Mauser was one of it not the last Mauser rifle to be produced. Based on the G98 action of Mauser rifles. The Yugo M48 was produced from 1950-1964 or 1965 depending on sources. It also saw a similar service life. However it would be used during the Yugoslavian Civil War, in small numbers. The M48 is chambered in 8mm Mauser.
While often being confused with the German Kar98. The M48 and K98 have very few interchangeable parts. The Bolt And Stock are not interchangeable.
The M48 is a very reliable rifle and is cheaper than your K98 but as with most military surplus firearms. The M48 is not as cheap as they used to be. They average around $500 to $700 dollars with some going for more than that.
