As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations organized by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation – East Zone, Dquests Adventure Sports Academy, in association with Juno’s Camp, organized a challenging ~360 km women’s ultra-distance cycling expedition from Bansa to Jadavpur.
The expedition began at Juno’s Camp in Bansa at 6:30 AM and continued through the hills, forests, and highways of West Bengal, finishing the next morning at 9:30 AM in Jadavpur.
The route passed through the beautiful landscapes of Baghmundi, Pakhi Pahar, Belpahari, Dahijuri, and Medinipur.
During the ride, the cyclists interacted with local sports enthusiast girls at Baghmundi, motivating them to pursue long-distance cycling and adventure sports. The riders were also welcomed by Dr. Sidhartha Majhi at Baghmundi.
The road brought many challenges. After crossing Pakhipahar, Dr. Debayan Bandopadhyay met with an accident and had to withdraw due to a broken derailleur. Later, Madhurima Mahapatra faced severe exhaustion and vomiting after Barabhum, yet showed incredible determination to continue and regain speed after Belpahari.
A special highlight of the expedition was Manju Shah, just 15 years old, a national rugby player and cyclist, who successfully completed her first ultra-distance ride.
The team battled rolling terrain, scorching heat, rough roads, lonely highways, deep fog, and even two punctures, but continued with determination.
The riders were warmly welcomed by Jhargram Cyclists at Dahijuri and received support from Amar Prasad Patra at Medinipur.
Supporting the expedition were endurance athletes Soumyadeep Mondal and Avisek Tunga, a Guinness World Record holder, ensuring safety and motivation throughout the ride.
Cycling past the majestic Ajodhya Hills, through the mysterious Belpahari jungles, and under a beautiful full moon night, the scenery made this journey unforgettable.
Finally, after riding day and night, the cyclists reached Jadavpur, where Dquests members were waiting to welcome them at the finish line.
This expedition was not just about distance.
It was about endurance, courage, inspiration, and the spirit of adventure.
Give to Gain. Ride Beyond Limits.
