The story picks up with Leon Kennedy, now working for the US Strategic Command, on his way to a remote Spanish village in Europe to rescue Ashley, the daughter of the President of the USA. I feel like there should be a Donald trump joke here but I must resist.

Ashley has been kidnapped by a mysterious cult known as Los Illuminados which translates to The Enlightened ones. Leon is injected with a mind controlling parasite known as Las Plagas, I’m sure you don’t need me to translate that one.

Before the parasite has chance to control Leon he and fellow captive Luis Sera escape and work together to locate Ashley and find a Las Plagas sample. Ashley is found and freed and the game becomes an escort mission with Ashley hiding or being kidnapped repeatedly becoming a reoccurring issue.

The big bad guy of the game is exposed as Osmund Saddler, the leader of Los Illuminados who reveals his plot to infect the president of the USA using Ashley. Leon takes out chief Mendez in a multistage fight in a burning barn and than takes shelter with Ashley in a castle.

Wrong move Leon as this is the home of Ramon Salazar another one of Saddler’s cronies. Ashley is kidnapped again… booo, but Luis returns with pills to suppress Leon’s infection… yey but sadly no happy ending for Luis who is instantly killed by Salazaar.

Leon continues to search for Ashley and then the moment we’ve all been waiting for happens… Ada Wong is back! The fem fatal is here to obtain a sample of Las Plagas for Albert Wesker no less. Yep Wesker may be behind the scenes in the game but he is certainly still pulling the strings.

Jack Krauser, one of Leon’s pals who died 2 years earlier suddenly appears and is yet another operative working for Wesker. The 2 indulge in a knife fight but Ada sees Leon in peril and stops Krauser.

At this point the pills Leon is taking to subdue Las Plagas are working too well but Ada once again refuses to stand for that kind of behavior.

Leon and Krauser finally duel to the death and of course Leon is victorious. He then locates Ashley and uses some sort of radio therapy devices to remove the plagas parasites from them both.

Finally, Leon with the help of Ada and a well place rocket launcher defeat lord saddler recovering the final Las Plagas sample. Ada takes it but vows that Wesker will not receive it. The island has moments before its destruction so Ashley and Leon escape on a jet ski.
