Delhi: On the Patna and Madhya Pradesh by-poll results, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi says, "It is clear that people are now fed up with BJP. They are understanding what is happening in the country, and I think this is the beginning."

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has reacted to the Assembly by-election results in Bihar’s Bankipur constituency and Madhya Pradesh’s Datia seat, claiming that voters are becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Speaking in Delhi, Priyanka Gandhi said, “It is clear that people are now fed up with the BJP. They are understanding what is happening in the country, and I think this is the beginning.”

Her statement came after the BJP suffered defeats in two politically significant constituencies. Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor won the Bankipur Assembly seat in Patna by 19,324 votes, breaking the BJP’s decades-long dominance in the constituency. In Madhya Pradesh, Congress candidate Ghanshyam Singh defeated BJP candidate Ashutosh Tiwari in Datia by 6,016 votes.

Priyanka Gandhi described the results as an indication of changing public sentiment and suggested that voters were beginning to question the BJP’s governance, policies and political priorities. Her remarks have intensified the political debate over whether the Bankipur and Datia verdicts could signal broader electoral challenges for the ruling party.

However, the overall results of the three Assembly by-elections were mixed. While the BJP lost Bankipur and Datia, it retained Gujarat’s Manjalpur constituency, where its candidate Satish Patel defeated the Congress candidate by 30,499 votes.
