A month ago, the Angel Investing Learning Program community gathered for a full-day workshop hosted by Viktoria Ventures with support from the UK-Kenya Tech Hub and African Angel Academy at ParkInn by Radisson in Westlands.

From the icebreakers that reminded us that trust is the highest currency, to syndicate formation and deep conversations on due diligence, this workshop went beyond frameworks and processes. It became about building shared purpose, courage, and the commitment to act together as a syndicate of investors.

Some reflections and perspectives that stood out:

· Angel investing is more than money, it is mentorship, networks, and social capital (Stephen Gugu, ViKtoria Ventures).
· Patience is essential, returns take years, but impact begins the moment we back local founders (Billy Msagha, UK-Kenya Tech Hub).
· Syndicate leadership is about shared ownership, members must lead the process, not just depend on facilitation (Abigail Komu - Okonji).
· Active engagement is non-negotiable, syndicate members must roll up their sleeves in due diligence and mentoring (Wilfred M.).
· Sector focus matters, balancing innovation with commercial viability ensures scalable impact (Kipkorir Kelvin Masai, FMVA®).
