Overview of the 64 Aṅgas of Vedāṅgajyotiṣam - Part 1 | Anand Vishwanathan

Описание: Jyotisha is one of the six vedanga-s, considered the eyes of the Veda. It is recorded in Vedic texts and was further developed as a separate and elaborate discipline of natural sciences consisting of 64 anga-s (limbs/parts) by Rishis such as Parashara, Garga, Vasishta, Narada, Kroshtuki, Vishwamitra and many others. There is a distinct character to this vedangajyotisha when compared to later more popular Siddhantajyotisha and Horashastram. This talk by Anand Vishwanathan, recipient of the "INSA Young Historian of Science Award 2021" is in two-parts, it aims to introduce some of the anga-s amongst the 64 to give an idea about the nature of this discipline.
