Everyone who strives to reach the stars eventually hits a wall... ironically, my wall is not a metaphor. http://www.Artix.com (Read more below)
Any successes I have had in my life are fully explained by this video. This is what I really am. The camera was only rolling during times I really thought I was actually going to make it. The actual number of fails was a significantly higher. My sincere gratitude and thanks to Reko DjRekon Rivera, Aj Amores, Stan Zubrin, Steven Griffin, Corey Alexander, and all of my new friends at Fitlorenzo who coached me, gave me their shoes, and kept the gym open late three weeks in a row so I could continue slamming into the wall like a terrible rag-doll physics game character. Illustrated in this video... is persistence, change of approach, persistence, increasing in strength, persistence, getting assistance from others who know how to do it better, persistence... If I am telling you everything, then you should know there were seriously a few times where I thought my body would never be able to do it. I saw people bigger than me do it. I saw people 10 years older than me with the same height do it. My 5'3" friend made it over. I would come home completely depressed and demoralized (especially after spending 4 hours straight trying to do it that 3rd night.) I write a lot about "never giving up" on the game's design notes. It would have been really easy to save the 2.5 hour drive back and forth and the gas and stay home and play video games instead. But the more I thought about it the more unsettled I became inside. The more mad I got, the more I tried to figure a way to change my body to do it. I practiced jumping until I could jump and touch my ceiling fan consistently in the combat/band room to strengthen my legs. I got a recommendation on new shoes and went and got them-- the new shoes actually worked against me. The final action that got me over the top was some very unconventional coaching by Mark. He would push my back when I got close to the wall forcing me to be closer to the wall. There are no videos of those runs, but I was able to touch and almost grab the bar when he did it. Once my body understood how to time the jump there was a "CLICK" moment and now I am able to do it! I will continue practicing this.. and also, immediately move onto the next challenge.
I am sharing this with you and my other friends online for one reason... a reminder that no matter how hard or impossible it seems NEVER GIVE UP! ...EVER!
Battle on!
