The 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment’s (2CER) Combat Rescue Troop rehearsed their Vertical Personnel Rescue skills, utilising the rock climbing and rappelling tower at Gallipoli Barracks, Enoggera. Over the course of a week Sappers were subjected to climbing and rescue scenarios requiring different approaches and techniques that would ensure their own safety and effective extraction of life-sized dummies.
Working alongside Medical Technicians from the 2nd General Health Battalion, soldiers were able to refine their core rescue and first aid skills that are used on Australian Army operations and training exercises. The course has undergone significant changes to align with the Forces Command Training Transformation Strategy. Army Logistic Training Centre staff and Army School of Transport staff at the Command Training Wing have worked hard to develop and modernise this course using blended learning methods.
