♿ Universal access walk from Bonaventure metro station to the REM platform at Central Station 🛗

Описание: Some of you have asked me to do a walk from Bonaventure metro station to the platform of the REM at Central Station / Gare Centrale, using the route that someone using universal access would need to take.

Universal access to me means someone that has a stroller, uses a wheelchair, is travelling with a bicycle, etc. Universal access in my opinion means having to use the elevators and universal access doors on your trip.

In this walk, we start at the platform of Bonaventure metro station on the Orange Line of the Montreal Metro System 🟠

We then take the elevator from the platform up to the mezzanine or ticket booth level. From there, we make our way to the elevator that leads to Terminus Centre-Ville (City Center bus Terminal) and then take another elevator that leads to street level.

From the street level, we make our way to the parking lot of Central Station through a narrow walkway. We then finally enter the doors to the REM Station and take the elevator down to the platform level.

Note: there are probably other ways a universal access trip could be taken, but this is the one that came to mind first.

Analysis: I believe this trip having to be used by someone needing universal access is really not the best at all. The main point being is that you ultimately have to go outside after leaving Bonaventure metro station to get to the REM station.

A much more logical scenario - as I mentioned in the video - would be to add elevators at the end of the hallway leading to Place Bonaventure as there already is an exit from the REM station there. The only thing that would be needed are a couple of elevators to make it easily accessible.

I'm also surprised that the main doors leading to the inside of Central Station from outside do not have universal access buttons to open the doors. The small, narrow walkway through the garage is almost impossible to navigate.
