Valve guide pop check

Описание: Old clip from last year when I was rebuilding an m113 engine for a 2003 w163 ml500 . In this demonstration you hear the very audible “pop” noise coming from the valve guide when valve is quickly pulled out . To preform this test yourself place your finger at the back of the valve guide with the valve all the way inserted to create an air tight seal / vacuum . You should also be able to pull the valve partially out & let it snap right back to your finger due the vacuum . If your valve wiggles while inside guide & the pop is not loud or weak & the valve Dosent spring back to your finger due to it creating a vacuum inside the valve guide . Then the guide is worn out . In my case I had a machine shop professionally hot tank / resurface the head down 13thou & pressure check the heads so I’m not just going off of this pop test alone to determine if my heads were in good condition or not . I also ported these heads on intake only . Removed all carbon from the valves with wire wheel , soda blasted the heads to remove carbon , Lapped all 24 valves . Replaced valve seals & i must of
Cleaned them with 4 different methods & means after all that before install just to make damn sure they were 100% clean . The engine runs amazing , very smooth & strong 🦾
