Abe Mirza was a memorable figure in Hazara folk music of Afghanistan. He was born around the 1940s in the central highlands of Afghanistan (Hazaristan). With his emotional and soulful voice, he narrated the pains, memories, and resilience of his people. His songs reflected migration, hardship, hope, and the enduring spirit of the Hazara community. Through simplicity and sincerity, he became one of the lasting voices of folk culture.
Safdar Tawakoli was born in 1941 in Jaghori district of Ghazni province, Afghanistan. From a young age, he developed a deep passion for local music, especially the dambura. Through dedication and love for his heritage, he became one of the most respected Hazara folk musicians. More than a performer, he is a storyteller of his people’s history and identity. In his hands, the sound of the dambura carries the authenticity and cultural resistance of the Hazara community.
Their collaboration represents a cherished and golden chapter in Afghanistan’s traditional folk music history.
