This community call was hosted by Ben Roberts & Perpetua Muthoni on February 19, 2026 and featured Leon Seefeld, Co-Lead of Dark Matter Capital Systems – the unit within Dark Matter Labs focused on innovating financial architectures for urban and bioregional transitions to regenerative and resilient economies. As a conversation starter, Leon set the context and invited participants to engage with the following provocation: "Recognizing that Bioregional Financing Facilities (BFFs) operate as bridges between radically different contexts, how can we identify and nurture BFF leadership capacity?"

FEST (Financial Ecosystems for Systemic Transformation) is accelerating the development of the field of financing systemic transformation. This field comprises all those working for financial transformation to greatly increase the flow of, and ease of access to, finance to address today's polycrisis. This includes private, public and foundational finance.
Financing Systemic Transformation (FST) is integral if we are to address structural social inequality, environmental and economic crises. However, the field of FST is currently underdeveloped in the scale and depth that is required.
