X-ray computed tomography (CT) is an X-ray imaging technique that can non-destructively scan the density distribution of an object in 3D. The most common form of X-ray CT is absorption contrast imaging. Multiple 2D projections of an object are collected using a micrometer-sized X-ray source and a 2D detector from different angles. A 3D image is generated from those 2D projections using reconstruction calculation.
