The very well-known section of the Rig Veda known as the Purusha Sukta is recognized as one of the most important and straight-forwardly philosophical sections of the Rig Veda. This famous hymn, consisting of 24 verses, has been formally commented upon, written about and speculated upon by a vast variety of scholars and gurus over the last several millennia. In this very special livestream series, Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya will provide his own commentary on these sacred verses from the perspective of the orthodox and traditional Vedic system.


"Through worship of the Purusha in the form of Yajna, the gods performed the sacrifice. These were the first dharmas. These great ones attain the height of heaven, where the (more) ancient Devas and sādhyas reside" (Purusha Sukta, 18)

"From the waters and from the essence of the earth was the Virat Purusha born. From Vishvakarman, the craftsman, He came into being. Tvashtā (Vishvakarman) gives Him His form, and then everything is born from Him. The whole world is formed from that Purusha in the beginning." (Purusha Sukta, 19)

"I have known that great Purusha (Supreme Person) who is brilliant like the sun and who is beyond all darkness. One who knows Him thus becomes immortal even here. There is no other path for liberation than this." (Purusha Sukta, 20)
