Описание: On August 19, 1812, off the coast of Nova Scotia, the American frigate USS Constitution, commanded by Captain Isaac Hull, engaged in a fierce battle with the British frigate HMS Guerriere. The battle was a resounding victory for the Americans, but it also gave birth to a legend. As the British cannonballs struck the Constitution's thick oak hull, sailors reportedly watched them bounce off harmlessly, leading a crew member to exclaim, "Huzzah! Her sides are made of iron!" The ship was thereafter known as "Old Ironsides," and its victory was a huge morale boost for the young American nation in the War of 1812.
