Operation Urgent Fury - Invasion of Grenada - DELTA, Rangers and Spectre gunships in action - Day 1

Описание: There are only two videos of fighting in the first days of Grenada. This is the amateur video taken by US citizen working at St. Georges University in 1983. This is a rare video, showing the Rangers jumping into Point Salines, while AC-130 Specter gunships rain down death and destruction on the enemy.

This video also shows the Blackhawk flown by CPT Keith Lucas crashing, and the heroic rescue mission to get the DELTA force operators that survived the crash to safety.

The video also shows A-7 Corsairs on bombing runs and strafing missions, and "Little Bird" helicopter gunships firing rockets at the enemy.

The video is very out of focus at times, and there is no better copy. This is due to the video being taken by a handheld camera, then transferred to VHS video tape and eventually being converted to digital format. However, it is the ONLY video that exists showing an early morning parachute assault by Rangers.

This has been redone with photos of the invasion interspersed and a memorial to those who died at the end

[Edit: The part of the video that says DELTA jumped out of the helicopter and onto trees is incorrect. They fast roped out of the helicopter, but I think the DELTA operator who told me this was trying to not to break his agreement to never reveal what they did operationally. In the 1980s fast roping was secret and no one was allowed to show photos or talk about it. It was not until an episode of "Miami Vice" showed fast roping, that it was considered no longer classified. So this DELTA operator kept his secret, but on the video the men are fast roping... not jumping out of the Blackhawk]
