And now for the second of two videos from East Grinstead, from one sight of the streets of 1980s London to another, from the titular Titan to the modern Metrobus, this time one that sounds just a little bit different, it's M1100.
M1100 was new in 1984 to London Transport, and whilst the full B-WUL batch totalled 255, this bus was one of a small batch of 22 new with Cummins L10 engines instead of the usual Gardner. Allocated new to Brixton (BN) garage, passing under privitisation firstly to South London, then Cowie, and then Arriva London. 2000 saw it pass to South Croydon (TC) before moving in 2001 to Thornton Heath (TH) where it ran both in service and as a driver trainer. M1100 was then sold in 2004, at first to Carousel in High Wycombe, was bought by Atbus in 2006 before eventually entering into preservation.
This bus was in attendance at the East Grinstead running day and was recreating route 409 from East Grinstead, High Street to Godstone Green via Felbridge, Felcourt, Lingfield, Blindley Heath & Godstone Station.
M1100 is powered by a Cummins L10 engine coupled to a Voith D851 3-speed automatic gearbox, so still produces that ever-distinctive Metrobus whine, so hope you all enjoy this one.
Start: Godstone, Leigh Mill Cottages
Finish: Felcourt, The Star Inn
