The Bioglan Newcastle SURFEST Presented by Bonsoy action shifted to women’s debuts and they didn’t disappoint with breakout showings before men’s top seeds provided an array of CT qualification scenarios unraveling.
Kauli Vaast and George Pittar made it official as the second and third CT qualifiers to earn their place among the world’s best in 2026.
Charli Hately got the Round of 48 moving with a 7.00 in her debut to keep the Aussie momentum thriving alongside reigning World Junior Champion Isla Huppatz before Eden Walla’s electric progression pushed the scale. Plus, Peruvian duo Sol Aguirre and Arena Rodriguez continue to represent South America in winning form more early success.
Then, the men’s top seeds made their highly anticipated debuts with CT qualification stakes right out of the gates for those looking to keep fate in their own hands.Early spoilers such as former World Junior Champ Bronson Medyi elevated the tension, setting an early tempo for big upsets with frontrunners and those in the hunt for CT qualification and Challenger Series requalification falling early. But, Mateus Herdy, Luke Thompson and more keep their chase alive alongside the likes of Newcastle’s own Ocean Lancaster laying down a new standard with excellence delivered.
