In an intelligent IoT network, surplus data refers to information that is collected beyond what is immediately necessary for system functionality. While some of this data may later prove useful for future analysis, optimisation or troubleshooting, much of it may be irrelevant or redundant, leading to increased storage demands, network congestion and processing inefficiencies. Managing surplus data is critical to ensuring that intelligent systems operate efficiently, securely and within data privacy guidelines.
