Handstand drills with the AirRoll – Gymnastics
Want to learn or improve your handstand? The AirRoll is an ideal companion for strengthening the right muscles and for learning the correct technique to make that perfect handstand. Work on finding your balance with an assisted handstand roll. Try to focus on straightening your entire body and try to feel where the balance point is. When you get the balance point, try staying in this position for a little while before rolling.
The AirRoll is also great for strengthening your shoulders and for teaching yourself the perfect body posture. When rolling into your handstand, focus on pushing out your shoulders and straightening your back. This will make sure you learn yourself the proper posture. You can also use parallettes to mimic the uneven bars.
Also try to keep one foor on the AirRoll. Focus on a good posture first and when this gets easier, you can start to switch legs. As soon as you can do multiple, correct switches in a row and you feel in balance, try to switch legs simultaneously. You’re now making a short unassisted handstand!
Bounce backs on the wall will help you finding that sweet spot in your handstand more easily. Try finding your balance point before bouncing again.
Repeating these drills will greatly improve your gymnastics handstand!
